How are you reading the codes? With a code reader or with a paper clip? I've only used the sears code reader. Try putting the key in both ways and sometimes you have to muscle the ignition a little bit. LMK if you get it to start thumb

In my '94, i've had the tumbler go bad, and then the plastic rod that goes from the tumbler to the actual switch down low on the column jammed. There is a pin that allows the tilt wheel to operate with this rod. It somehow fell out inside of the column, not allowing the car to shut off.

Happy day THAT was, i'll tell ya...

you prolly just got to mess with it. whenever someone drives my sho they somehow are able to turn the ignition without holding down the lever to release the lock on it and they totally f*ck it! ****** me off, so i gotta sit there for like 5 mins or so just messing with it, to get it right, fidget with it, and maybe try turning it backwards (as if u just wanted to listen to the radio) last time that worked for me (thank god) :) i'll never let another person touch my ignition again unless i know they know what they are doing ;p holla if u still got probs

Try putting pressure on the steering wheel in both directions while turning the key. This is very common on every Ford I've owned. If there is any tension on the steering system, it causes the cylinder to bind due to the steering wheel lock.

For those with lock cylinder problems it is very easy and cheap to fix. I put up with a sloppy cylinder for 2 years and finally got a new one keyed to my original one for $20.00. Takes about a half hour to change.

I just had the same problem with my ignition a few months ago. I found a real interesting way to turn the car on and off. Remove the ignition switch and you can turn the car on and off by hand. :) Eventually I dismantled the steering column and replaced the rod. Definitely not the most fun in the world.
