I just had the same problem with my ignition a few months ago. I found a real interesting way to turn the car on and off. Remove the ignition switch and you can turn the car on and off by hand.MotoArts:
In my '94, i've had the tumbler go bad, and then the plastic rod that goes from the tumbler to the actual switch down low on the column jammed. There is a pin that allows the tilt wheel to operate with this rod. It somehow fell out inside of the column, not allowing the car to shut off.
