Idling funny

Sometimes it seems like my car idles funny but sometimes its "good"

I've seen in some threads that the car is supposed to idle around 800rpm.
Mine frequently sits at ~1100 or 1200 or so and that is where it idles.
Sometimes it starts up and chugs around 600-800 and feels like it wants to die but continues to chug but if I rev it up a bit and let it go it'll be fine and idle around 1000
Today I have had it randomly idle around 1600 at a stop light so I revved it a few times to try to get it to go down and it went back to 1100 or so

That alright? What should I try to fiddle with to make it idle "normal"

sounds like the IAC is sticking. It happens because it gets filled with black carbon or whatever it is. Some people say to try to clean it out with carb cleaner. Last time I did that it didnt help, i went and got a new one and the idle issue went away.

total nub here, where's the IAC and how much is a replacement if necessary?

It sits on top on the intake behind the throttle body. I may have an extra one around my garage some where. It could also be a vac leak too. Have you tried the idle reset procedure?
