For sometime now my SHO has been idling at high rpms..it was off and on till recently and it has gotten kinda bad. It will idle near 1,000 or just under it constantly when it is usually down by 500 ish area. When this problem is occuring after i go from drive to park the car will rev up above 1.5k rpms and not stop. This i have noticed makes my car shift a lot worse while driving and i have also noticed it the most when i have the A/C on...would replacing the IAC fix this?

Thanks

Try cleaing out the IAC first or better yet, when it does the revving up, pop the hood and use the handle part of a screwdriver and tap the IAC to see if that helps. It could be gunked up inside and causing it to stick. If that helps, proceed with the cleaning of it wtih some carb clean. Then, start saving up to pick up a new IAC when you can. Hope this helps.

A new iac isn't real exspensive about 60 from oriellys and it can be had cheaper. Mine had same issue while back tried cleaning but was so bad I wound up getting a new one. My higher idle has returned slightly but I believe I may have a slight vacuum leak. Mainly it doesn't like to drop properly as your slowing down. And sometimes jumps back and forth.while your at it id clean your throttle body and maf as well just to have that whole area clean.

Cleaning the MAF sensor with a electrical parts cleaner will also do the trick.

A bad IAC will usually cause the car to stall/shut off at idle.

The tsb is only for 98-99. But I believe the connector on the 96-97 has similar issues. My cost on the service kit is about 80 bucks. Which I think is outrageous for a simple connector. Does anyone have any pics or details on. The revised conector? I thought there was a pic between the difference on v8sho but I couldn't find it. You can replace the tps but the issue could be the connector try cleaning the connector on the tps with some electronic cleaner and see if it helps.
