My 99 likes to idle high on on occassion for no apperent reason. It did the same thing around this time last year so I pull the IAC off and cleaned it, though it really didn't need it but now that its gettin cold again I am having this problem. Now it doesn't happen all the time that is what really trips me up.

Anyone?

Check the TPS voltage. With the key on and engine off it should be under 1.0V. Back probe the connector and check the middle wire to a good ground. Ideally .96-.98V is what you want. I use some solid 20 gage wire like found in fluorescent fixtures to back probe with.

I had the same thing happen today with my 96. Same way always happens after the first rain. The TPS plug must wick just a little bit of moisture on to the pins and cause a little bit of corrosion. I took the plug on and off a few times and after all that put some dielectric grease an the female contacts and then reinserted it.

I was 100 miles from home when it acted up and on the return trip it did not act up once:thumb::woohoo::woohoo:
