Hello, I have an opportunity to buy a co-workers 97' SHO, 70K, 60K service, leather, 1 owner, very clean. I am going to look at it tonight - any suggestions on what to look for or ask? From what I have seen, this is a fair price. Should the cost of future maintanence or parts be something that I should be worried about? I appreciate any feedback. Thx

I don't believe that 96-99's require the 60k. You want to listen for any tapping noises from the cam area. Ask him if he's had that cams welded and if he hasn't use that as a negotiating tool. If you want to prove to him that you are not BSing show him www.v8sho.com and look for cam failures.

Listen to the motor to see if you can hear any ticks or taps. Those v8 SHO's have had problems with their cam shafts. Which when a problem is present I believe there is a ticking sound from the left side of the motor. Front or back head, I don't know. Also check out www.v8sho.com That is a website dedicated to the Gen 3 SHO.

Wow Mike, both of us seemed to respond to this at the same time, both saying practically the same thing. Great minds think alike
