Just wondering what kind of miles you fellow Gen 3 owners get on a full tank. I use to be able to get around 300(city) when I was stock but now its hard to get 260. When I put on the shoshop intake I noticed a drop and now I notice less miles with my muffs. I was thinking something was wrong but i havent noticed any performance loss???

WHAT!?!?

You guys are actually getting 300 miles out of a tank??? I have never come close to that. In a combination of city and highway driving, I average about 230 miles out of a tank. I think the best I have done is 240.

Is there something wrong with my car? And I don't think I drive it that hard.

Have you tried some injector cleaner? Somethings not right. It could be a bunch of things but the O2 sensors turn a the engine light on when they go bad. I cleaned the MAF in my Explorer and increased the milage by 10 per tank. You might want to try that. BTW, how do you like the Z06? I switched jobs to a Chevy dealer (doubled my pay) and I get a discount on ANY car. $150 over invoice, even on a Vette, just talked to the owner today. It might make a nice grad present.

I was started with 330-340 a tank, then it went down to 270-280. That was with a bad torque converter. Now I'm back to 330. On strictly highway I can get almost 380.

WOW I thought 300 was kinda bad, I drove from Grand Rapids Mi. To Indianapolis IN. which is 296 miles on 12 dollars of gas and I was going 80 the entire way. Maybe there is something wrong with your car. How many miles are on it?

I get about 200 to 230 miles per tank. 99 percent of my miles are in town and I enjoy romping the car pretty good in my evening pleasure drives. I know there is plenty of gas left when the fuel light comes on, but thats when I usually stop and fill up.

Nope, I have not tried the injector cleaner. The car currently has 59,000 miles on it, and I bought it with 33,000 miles. It has gotten the same poor gas mileage ever since I bought it. It has always seemed like there is something wrong with the high fuel consumption, but the motor seems to run perfectly so I figured it was normal.

As for the Z06, I love the car. It is the best combination of superior speed, style, handling, and braking out there for the money. And best of all, its a vette.

I get at least 300 miles on a tank on up to 350-360, depending on how hard I hit it. One thing I noticed on my SHO was that I am able to put almost 19.5 gallons of gas in even though the tank is 18 gallons. Try filling in to the very top and see what kind of mileage you get then. Also, my mileage is always higher in the summer then the winter due to the gas.

This tank size thing has gone around a lot. The actual size of the tank on a '98 Gen III is 20 US gallons. The fill line is about another 2 US quarts. Having actually emptied it once to find this out, I can certify it to be so. I do not know about other Gen III years, but suspect these values to be correct for the '97s and '99s as well, and very likely for the '96s too.

Milage obviously varies a lot depending on type of driving, air temps, road types, fuel type, etc. The best I have done is 27.5 US mpg on long highway trips at fairly constant speeds in fall using premium gas. On this trip I twice in a row got over 500 miles out of a tank. In normal mixed driving and hitting it hard every now and then I have found 20 US mpg to be a more normal figure, which maxes out a tank at a bit over 400 miles, though I try never to run it that low.

All figures converted from real metric to pesky US, obviously.
