Is that a costly procedure?
You can do it, get a endoscope from Amazon and take the MAP sensor off the top middle of the air intake - carefully run the camera down and inspect it yourself - looking for mushroom build up on the valve stems - carbon building up in the walls into the valves. Really any one cylinder from the left and right side of the intake will be good analysis of the build up.

Mine were horrible at one time on my first engine and it didnt make a difference on fuel economy. But they should be cleaned regardless because of other issues it can cause. Carbon chunks can fall into the piston, carbon is very brittle. I deal with it on a daily in f135 engine seals but carbon can take a very high load directly without breaking so it could cause damage if large enough.

Just get some crc turbo intake cleaner and spray in the intake while its running. I need to do mine again. I do it every 10k miles
So you access that by removing the MAP sensor on top of the intake manifold? Sorry for all of the questions. newbie to all of this stuff

Uhh, i haven't tried it there before but maybe its ok at idle and wont cause it to stall. Would be easy for it to clean the valves directly there if it stays running. If you go in through hose port on the piping behind the filter it will do the turbos and intake (from my poor memory as i aint had a factory intake setup in at least 5 years)

Update on this issue: Last month I took a ride down to Maryland from PA, about 130 miles each way, all highway miles. I filled up and reset the trip counter and I did get an average of 24MPG during that trip. by now it has gone back down to around 15mpg. I have also cleaned both MAP sensors and the AICT sensor. Wanted to know if this meant that this is just as good as it is going to get or should I keep hunting to try and get better MPGs for daily driving. It may not be worth the time and money given it's not my daily driver. I started at 11MPG so it's a bit better. Thanks for any insight!
