Hello, I’m Anniken and I just bought a 2014 sho pp about 3 months ago, I got big dreams for the car n yada yada yada. I got a couple questions about mods with down pipes, tuners. ( comming here because Google AI isn’t much help, and I’ve read everywhere and anywhere can really find much for these specific questions.

1. For the downpipes, is anyone running catless downpipes, and is there really any difference between the high flow DPS and catless DPS, 1(b) if I installed catless dps are there any major tuners who would have a problem with this?

2. For the Tune, who is the most reliable, I’ve seen gearhead is somewhat the best, but would they be able to run a 2step rev limiter? Or could I get the power pack, and have other tuners download a file to the SCT?

- thank you, Anniken

To answer your questions......

1. I would run a catted dp. Catless Dps really don't make that much more power. My SHO had catted DP's. They kept the car cleaner, there wasn't a smell from the exhaust, and overall they were better.

My E63 has catless DPs. They stink, they blow soot all over the back end, but they made a bit more power....and did I say they stink? If I could do it again, I would go catted for my AMG. I would sacrifice a little power and volume, for less stink and less soot.

2. Tune reliability goes pretty much hand in hand with how much you want to turn it up. Matt at Gearhead is good. I was only tuned by Brad from AJP. To my knowledge, I don't know if any of them actually got a 2 step to work with factory ECU programming. Maybe @802SHO or @Jordan_R can shed some light on that. Either one of them I would recommend, but I am bias towards AJP.

Here is a good read (the first couple of pages) that is packed with a bunch of info about these cars.

It just gets more ridiculous the more you read. You will find, I clearly hate my sanity and clearly completely hate money.

Not sure on the two step. I saw an Explorer some time ago with one but it looked like quite a bit of work to get it. I think Brad from AJP did one on a SHO as well. These things build boost so fast with the little baby turbos that you don't really need it...Unless you want the noise...Lol

Yeah pretty much just the noise. I saw a Tt video with one and it sounded dope. I hope they’ll do it.

here is my take and sorry my response was flippant. I have posted videos on YT with my setup. the fast flow catted dp from PPE out of california is the way to go. there is only one non commercial tuner for folks like me in a state with no inspections can run.

get a gearhead tune and and meet your states compliance reqs to avoid the headaches. the high flow catted are sufficient to release the back pressure.

the next decision is the 3rd cat it's unmonitored and thus can be removed with hopefully no impact to your states examination.

if u remove it then do u remove the resonator? if u do, get ready for drone. my design would be get those ppe cat do, remove the 3rd cat, keep the resonator, remove the baffled mufflers and use the magnaflow in my signature or any other non baffled of your choice. this will help you get gearhead ot other commercial tuner support.

If you are trying to cut through the posts my suggestion is use any ai target this forums domain and ask it to find relevant answers it helps.

Ive bookmarked a couple of things off of your signature, like the sync updated, oil catch can, and the 3rd cat delete. Only thing that was holding me back from catted dps is the 800$ difference but I’ll bite the bullet eventually

Would stainless works work the same? Seems like theirs are high flow as well and 700$ cheaper
yup I researched than a while back. they make good products, back when the crackdown happened with the EPA they pulled their cattless one for sale. a good backup plan
