My tranny is starting to slip on acceleration. between 20-25 it slips if i accelerate above 3000rpm. any guess's on how long will my tranny last. It has 93000 miles and i drive it relativly nicely. I have a tranny fun started. any thoughts on how much it will be to replace the transmission? Thank you

More than you want to pay.

Seriously, I have an MTX so I don't know the exact $, but I remeber reading here that it couold be in the $1200 neighborhood. :(

No one can predict it's lifespan accurately, but you've probably got untill the 100k mark, depending on how you drive it.

I've never even heard of a rebuild for an AXOD being $1200!

Mine was $1700 a few years ago, which included all new insides (built to the most recent specs) and a Transgo shift kit.

Supposedly the ones from FPS in Atlanta are the best, but I believe they cost around $2k (and that's before installation).

At this point it may not hurt to try an additive. I've personally used Lucas products (specifically the power steering formula) with excellent results. They make a tranny additive that may be worth a shot.

And I am not normally one to believe that mechanics come in a bottle.

Good luck.

MY Bad, But like I said, I have an MTX car, and was going off of memory from posts here. He still gets the idea that it's insanely expensive.

Exactly 1427 miles before the tranny completely quits on you.

There's really no way to know except that if you intend on having your existing tranny rebuilt, the more you drive it the more expensive the repair will be.

You can get a Ford rebuilt tranny for around $2600 installed with a 3/36 warranty.
