Hestitaion below 4K rpm

Ok say im driving 65mph and in 5th.. If i hit the pedal it hesitates until about 4 then takes off.. idle is good above 4K doesn't seem to be a problem but it could be hidden.. what do you guys think? sounds like fuel Prob to me..

Verify operation of your secondaries.

Your symptoms sound like what happens when they are staying open - no low end but good pickup beyond 4K RPMs.

Of course, there's not going to be much pickup at 65 in 5th, the engine is only turning 1700-1900 RPM. Downshift to third and romp on it.

At 26.8 mph/1000rpm, 65mph in 5th gear works out to 2,425rpm. Punching it at that point won't get you more than about 90hp. At 4,000 rpm in 5th gear you are traveling at 107mph and you say then it "takes off"? Your descriptions are generalized at best and certainly the stuff that mechanics tell stories about. I you want us to help you, you have to help us to understand your situation first.

I have had, and actually still do have the same problem. I have been able to determine it is shorting in the plug wires. But... the cure hasn't been that simple.

I just replaced plugs and wires with all OEM. I was super careful and triple-checked the gaps. All are 0.044".

The car runs fine for about 3 days and then slowly relapses into this on-off missing/stumbling illness. It's only between 2K and 4K with a load. I just don't get it. What is it about some of these cars that they insist on arcing somewhere in the ignition wires??? These are the 3rd set of plugs and wires! I'm getting annoyed.

If you haven't recently, recheck your wires for cracks. Check your coil pack for dust and dirt on the top that could give an arc path. Besides that, I'm stumped.

I also noticed something else.. If i disconnect the Battery(IE reset comp) it doesn't do it until roughly a day later.

About the about statement i shouldn't have to down shift just to accelorate on the hiway. I do understand that there is a lack of power at 2K rpm but it shouldn't be acting like this. 60K? the car got a new engine at 85K and its at 145K and has had one and i put new plugs wires and Valve cover and spark plug well gaskets a week ago in. Its not a huge big deal but i was thinking about givin it a 75 shot and i want it to be running good before that..

YES!! Exactly!! I thought I was the only one to observe this. What the freak is going on here?? No one has any idea. They always point to wires and or plugs. Forget it. I'm tired of replacing them. Something else is hosed.

It's really reduced my ability to enjoy the car. I've often considered selling it and getting an new Altima V6. (shhh.... that's off the record)

You shouldn't expect much acceleration at that speed and gear...I would change back to stock MAF, reset comoputer and see if give you some gains.

In my opinion the 73mm sucks but not in a good way. frown

Last night i was Leaving a club in flint and abot 1500 rpm in first hit the gas pedal and it Made like a popping noise. Maybe its the air in the Suburbs Morebhp? LOL by the way check your pm's
