Help on replacing the oil sending unit!!!

Ok so me and my dad have sho's he has the atx and like a good kid lol i am helping him alot (in return for my clutch job) so scince i have smaller arms ive been working on it and hes telling me where it is so we didnt drop the y pipe and wondering if that would let us get up there easier we got the old one off and can get the new one on i cant walk the new one in cause i cant get my fingers in there

Oil sending unit is best to get from the bottom very easy to change. Put the car up on ramps of jack stands. Here is a pic of where it is minus the Tee and how easy it is to get from under.

i think thats for a mtx cuz this is a atx whice ive heard is harder

Yeah you are right but I dont think it would be too bad from under still.

well you have bout 2 inches to get you hand up in and i have big arms lol i think im gonna drop the y pipe to see if ti helps

you kinda have to stuff your arms up in the area and then shimmy yourself back under it in order to get both arms up and still be able to see.

On the ATX you can only remove the pressure switch from the top. If you have the right tool it will only take you 15 to 20 min. to replace. I just did mine on my 95 ATX and it was a PITA without the right socket. I bought mine at NAPA for about $8 after I already installed my new one, I just wanted to tighten it up. I didn't know there was a specific tool until I already installed the new one.
