Pull your front, middle spark plug and shine a light down there...do you see oil? New plug and new wires won't do any good if oil is fouling them.

The head gaskets are high-maintenance on this car, especially since the spark plug are in the middle, each of which requires a rubber o-ring, which tend to go bad and allows oil into your plug wells.

i was just wonderin if u figured out why ur car was having hesitations i figured out why myne was because of my own stupidity and lack of attention. when i did my clutch i forgot to put back a ground wire to the starter i had it ziptied way up there and i found it the other day and my car stopped the hesitation and idle problems the second it went on.

My car has been hesitating also. What is the ground wire that I believe hooks to the back of the rear passenger side of the intake manifold? I think this could be my problem if it isn't grounded properly.

Well I took out the front 3 plugs; they had no oil down the tubes and they looked fine. I'm wondering if it has anything to do with my DIS or Coil pack? This car only hesitates under load. I'm going to do wires and plugs this weekend.

Hey I have another one. Chris said that he thinks that it needs a new fuel pump soon becasue sometimes when I try to start it it doesn't wantt to fire. I know we have spark, I don't know if it is a weak spark. I have a new fuel filter on it. I don't remember taking fuel pressure readings. So I'll have to do that. I have seen cars have spark but it was a weak spark and have seen that cause all kinds of goofy issues. Just throwing this out.

Does the fuel pump groan from time to time? I see you have a new filter, so I would tend to think your pump might be getting weak, unless you had a alot of contaminates in the tank. Check all the grounds on the car, especially the ground on the back of the intake and from the battery. Corrosion of the battery cables can cause problems as well.
Again, which plug wire are in use and how old?
Does the engine move much under load? e.g. weak motor mount. Some have had the discause problems because it was hitting the strut tower.

I Believe you are referring to valve cover gaskets, (more specifically the plug well seals) and not head gaskets?

Well I do not know what wires are on it becasue I didn't look that close, but they are grey with the clear/white plastic wrapings on them. I have a set of Autolite professional and Autolite Double Plat. plugs too put in it. Whoever did the last tune up at least had the brains to put antiseize on the plugs. Battery cables are clean and tight, so is the ground. The engine mounts are fine I think<I'll have Chris look at them closer. OS I'll fill you in tonight after we play some more with it.

The plug wires sound like they are Motorcraft.

Have you looked at your DIS to see if it might be cracked where the mounting holes are?

Just thoughts.

Well I have a knowen good DIS and Coil pack comming also. SO I want to try the tune up and fuel pump. I guess Chris said that the feul pressure is on the very bottom of what is considered ok by Ford. He siad it does dip down below the specs once and awhile so he thinks it needs a fuel pump.

Well Andy replaced the one in the '93 by cutting a door in the floor beneath the back seat. Was pretty easy to install and if it ever needs it again, no biggie!

If you need any tips, etc., let us know.

I want to keep this car mint. I'm not sure I want to cut a hole in my new SHO, My last one had the hole cut in it. I bought a new sending unit/pump combo. SO I'll drop that in soon and we'll see what happens.

Looking at my '93 would you know there is a hole in it? I baby the shit out of that car, she's my "little girl."

Andy took care of it so it would not get any type of rust on it.

Honestly, it's the easiest way to do it. This is Wisconsin and you know how the rust can play games with the gas pan straps. Just my thoughts though.

Hope it does go well. All car work can be a pain when it wants to be.

Later dear!

HIa Kris - My car is from Mississippi and i found out in never seen a Wisconsin Winter. The last owners stored it becasue they never liked driving the stick in winter I guess. I got the courage to call the previous owners after I did some back ground checking on my car.

Let me add to this - IT spent the last 3 years in wis, all 3 winters stored. IT was from Mississippi originaly then sold up here 4 years ago. I looked under that take last week and she is 90% rust free and the nuts onthe staps all move. I was playing with my car at work last week. I wanted to see how rusty it was under there before we dove in.

MY intake was dirty! Is there a way of getting all the shit out with out really taking the whole thing apart and brushing it all out by hand? I cleaned what I could reach with a toothbrush, seafoam, and a rag.
