Since most everything else has been checked or changed, make sure the tank venting is not blocked. Run with cap off and see if anything changes. If that all checks out, may be time to replace fuel line.

Dude, for one, im not a *******. Let me make this clear:

This car used to be highly modified. It had a 255lph with a shonut regulator.

Theres the history of the car... Dont jump to conclusions without having all the information.

I never jumped any conclusion, that's what everyone else has been doing the past 2.5 pages of responses because you failed to provide the history on this vehicle until confronted.

You see, now the owner has checked the fuel pressure and has confirmed it is a fuel delivery issue. Things are started to look bright. And now, we just have news in from you, that the regulator has been replaced.

The question is, was it replaced before the 255lph fuel pump was removed? If so, I'm betting it's the regulator. A bad regulator will drop pressure instantly when turned off, takes time to build efficient pressure, and produces too much pressure or too little pressure. These problems will mock symptoms of a bad fuel pump.

If the regulator was replaced when the 255lph pump was replaced, was it used or new? If used, did you know the condition of the vehicle it was removed from and the condition of the regulator? If it was new and replaced with the stock replacement pump, it would be idea to check the wiring at the sending unit. However, that's not the only possible problem. I'm sure James will know the answer when it's neither of these two potential problems. :)

I would love to meet you sweetheart, maybe I can come over to your next sleep over. :naughty:

I'm with that! I'm going to check the sender on Sunday (I work a job that requires a lot of time). Sunday is my next day off, and the kids will be over at Grandma's house for the weekend.

I hope we are getting close with the low fuel pressure disclosure.
I am keenly interested in the outcome, as I am a big believer in the codes telling you the truth.
I don't know enough about the possibility of one thing affecting another in these treasure hunts for the cause. And this case will help.
But I do know that I would be ready to price a CPS, a TPS; and have a close look at my MAF.... but I wouldn't buy them yet, in case one thing does cause another.

According to Steve, the 60K was just done on this car, so the crank sensor was replaced. Being that the car only has 12psi at the rail, we are thinking that either the pump is bad, or the sender is shorting out the pump. We are getting close. I haven't even titled this car yet....waiting until I get it fixed. But this has been interested....and apparently I have a lot to learn about these SHO's. At least now I'm not frustrated with it, 12psi tells me a lot.

I've already priced out a crank, cam, and TPS sensors through Advanced Auto Parts. They are all pretty cheap.
I priced out a Cam Sensor and TPS at my work (Westfield Ford), here's what I got from them

Cam Sensor: $191
TPS Sensor: $89

I work at a dealer, and I would still be paying out the a*s!

From what you and others have said most recently and looking at the codes, it's fuel related...so you need to rule out the other stuff. Second, where are you finding a $191 cam sensor? Mine was $30 from AutoZone (Wells brand). For $191 you can buy 6 of those.

This is what I was saying. The parts guy here at work said a Cam Sensor is $191, this a Ford part. Either he looked up the wrong part, or was jacked up on something.....anyhow.....I'm not buying parts from my work. I found them much cheaper online.

We are hoping it's the fuel sender so we can move on.

Interesting. Maybe the fuel pump is not getting the required voltage and current, iow a wiring issue?

Yea, I'm waiting on that. There's a common problem in Taurus model with this, but I wonder how many people actually know where this problem is located.

Another question: I've been pricing out senders, what size tank would be in my SHO? 16 gallon, or 18 gallon? How do I tell? I would assume that the 3.2L would have the bigger tank?

It will be the 18.5 model. It is supposed to be written on top of the tank, but I never found it when I changed mine.

You know what's funny? My stripper model 90 def. has an 18 gal. tank....but when I ran my 95 MTX to empty, it only took 14.5 gal. to fill, so I suppose it's a 16 gal. and the 95 is a fully loaded model.

Oh boy....I need to know for sure how many gallons my tank is....LOL! I've got an access door for my fuel pump under the seat. I'm going to try and look it up.

I wouldn't worry to much about it. As you have noticed, they only sell 1 length of strap, so the distance from the ****** to the bottom of the tank is the same on both.

Thanks man, I will get the 16gal one then....if it needs it. I will find out on Sunday, and post what I find with the pump and sender.

I thought I had mentioned in the e-mails, but the crank sensor was not replaced recently. I put in an OEM Ford unit in the car in 05 when the one that was in it was giving me issues. It was mostly an upper 60k when the cams were taken out.

I think it has been ruled out, but if you need another stock maf, I believe I have one.

I will let you know Steve. Only reason why I was asking is because some of the codes I pulled. I will be looking at the sender tomorrow.
