Hi all.
I am in the middle od building my 3.2 and I want to cange my cam cap bolts to studs so I dont have to worry about stripping them. I have see a picture of it (though I cant seem to find the post now). The person said that they used threaded rod to make the studs. Well I am having a heck of a time finding suitable threaded rod. First off no one carries M7x1.00 rod in stock. Any bolts that are available are too short to make studs out of. Fastenal can get threaded rod, but it is only grade 2....I am thinking this is way too soft. On line I found a place to get grade 4.6 threaded rod. Would this work? I am not worried about it holding the torque specs....the grade 2 will do that. I am worried about the tension from the valve springs causing it to stretch or wear the threads over time. Anyone know where I can get hardend threaded rod or bolts that are long enough to make studs out of? Would the grade 4.6 be okay for this application? Thanks
