I received an email from an acquitance who is having problems with his heating core.

Here's the quote:

...the f-ing heater core went
south! It was repaired two years ago (4,000 miles), and has failed
again! .... And FORD wonders why I don't trust dealership
service!!!!?? So, I can't even think of selling it until I repair it
myself. any thoughts here?

Anyone can assist in this matter??

Unlikely.

Insufficient data about failures, both the original and the current. Speculation is unlikely to be of any good.

What exactly failed. The heater core itself? The blend door? More info is needed.

If the core split open, I'd be pretty ****** off myself. Makes me wonder if the one I installed 2 weeks ago is going to be shot in 2 years.

P.S. he live in LA too? Why do you need heat there? I'm confused on that one.. :)

Can someone help me compile a list of questions? I don't know anything about the heating core. I've asked him to provide more info. Thanks for the help.

So far.

The heater core itself? The blend door?

Correct.. mine let loose, and you could tell for sure my core was split. It may not be that bad yet.. but put the heater on defrost, and you'll see condensation on the windsheild .. that'll let ya know for sure if the smokes not that bad yet..
