After possibly toasting my engine I finally got around to fixing the metal/rubber heater lines. At least one of them was leaking under high pressure but I was putting it off because the metal crimps on the rubber lines on the engine side looked complex to fix.
Well, after going to an industrial supply company (my thanks to Greenshields!) to get them fixed, it turns out the metal crimp is nothing more than a permanent hose clamp. The guy at the shop slit the crimp and pried it off, replaced it with some heavy duty silicon hose and I can just replace it with a screw-type hose clamp.
Why would Ford put a metal crimp on one end of the hose and not the other, and why not just use their stock spring-type hose clamps? This makes me wonder if someone altered my supply and return lines.
