Diverter Hoses

I have the engine out of my 15’ and I noticed the noise maker was capped off. But the other hoses are open and there’s a small ****** that looks like it should be for something vacuum line like on the right side of the engine (I’ll get pictures I forgot to get some of it). Why would you open these hoses or why should I put them back? It does sound cool but if it makes the car not run as well I’d rather give up the cool sound for mo powa baby.
