i was wondering if the metal heater hose that houses the sesor if the hose must be grounded to the block. The hose comes off the engine rubber then goes to metal then has the sensor then goes back to rubber then goes and connects to the fire wall. i had a blow out and i was wondering

No, it shouldn't need to be grounded. The sensor is a two wire jobbydoo that supplies its' own complete path. That sensor has a thermal heat switch in it that opens or closes, (can't remember which) when the coolant reaches about 120 degrees. I think they use that switch to keep the interior climate control fan or blend door from operating until the coolant reaches a certain temperature.
