does any one else get a rattle when the heater fan is at certian speeds. i dont hear it if i turn it all the way up but it only takes a few minutes before the car is nice an toasty and as soon as i turn it down the rattle comes back. i can deal with it im just curious if its common.

It's probably the variable blower control module on its way out. If it clacks with the speed of the fan in the middle settings but sounds ok on low or high, then that would be my guess.

The VBCM module and the heater core are completely separate things. The VBCM can be accessed by dropping the glovebox. There are two screws holding it in, one air hose, and a harness connection. It takes less than 5 mins. to change, where a heater core is more like 10 hours. If I recall correctly, they're about $150 from a dealer, but you can usually find them used here or on eBay in the $30-$50 range, and sometimes junkyards will have them too.

i have the same thing, but just once in a while.. i just turn down the heat a bit and it`s gone after a while tool
