Same problem here. The drivers side will not go down. I've got so ****** that I slammed down on the thing and it still doesn't move. I've just gave up on it and left it where it is. It is cold and I don't feel like digging into it now. Maybe a summer project. madflame

hey...mine too! Maybe they just don't go down?!?! My girlfriend drove my SHO and she is only 5'3"... her head was b/w the seat top and the headrest and drove her so crazy she pulled over and got out! rofl

Fortunately, it is perfect hight for me when it is flipped foward, so I wont worry until spring. pcorn

The headrest shafts each have a series of machined grooves spaced along the length. On the inside of the seatback where the headrest shafts slide in (don't get too excited now), there is "hairpin" clip that seats in the grooves to hold the headrest in position.

It sounds like your pin is bent in.

You may be able to access the bad player from the base of the seat back, going up to the top.

I'm 6'4" and like the headrests all the way up; mine wouldn't stay up and it was a PITA to get those clips out and replaced. Be careful, the plastic sleeve the shaft fits in has a tendency to break under stress.

I couldn't get either of mine to go down so I finally leaned the headrest forward so I could see the portion of the bars that bends at the top. This gave me a good surface to VERY gently tap with a dead blow hammer. It only took a couple of taps on each bar for each headrest and now both of mine are all the way back down against the seats. No more rattles - it's wonderful!

You are going to sell the car for something that simple? C'mon... you own a SHO! There are tons of little annoying things that go wrong with mine all of the time!! There's always a solution to a problem no matter how easy or inconspicuous it is. Just hang in there! My passenger one is actually stuck up on my 89 as well...... :jpshakeh:
