Here's a couple higher res pics of the damage. It almost looks like the head can be used as the gouge is not completely in the coolant channel.

Nick, even though it is not in the coolant passage, its still a stress rasier.

It will fail again.

Seems like you have two options...

1: take the head to a welder( a GOOD welder) and have them patch the hole. Then take it to get planed, but even then your still risking it.

2:take your losses and ditch that head, and find another.


or there is always option 3- ditch the sho alltogether... :shrug:

So max tq on the head bolts is 69 ft/lbs? That could be a problem that I tq'd them down to 80 last time I did this.

If you torqued the head bolts to 80ftlbs, you are risking damage to the threads in the block.
