Well, after finally getting a good tune on my car with tweecer the hg decided to blow (Again!). I can't seem to understand why they blew again. The headgaskets look the same as when I put them in the 1st time. Here's how she looks right now.

I can't figure out where the headgasket leak was coming from at all, the gaskets are perfectly intact.

Also, I broke the sensor that sits in the valley of the heads, does anyone know what that is?

Put it together right. Get the heads planed. Do it right or do it twice... Check the mating surface on the block with a machinist's straight edge as well.

werd.

Headgaskets rarely fail on these motors. More than likely your head is fugged up.

Take them to a machine shop and have it checked out. While you're there might as well have them rebuilt.

sorry to hear.

yeah i say warped also..

one other thing is if you blown the rear and left the engine in the car when you reinstalled it you coulda messed it up when you were putting the head on the rear..
its a tight fit and for me i have to stand on the car and squat down to get it in there, real pita.

if i recall you had 3.2 heads so i guess it would be time for 3.0 heads

You can't plane these heads very much, if at all. Any material removed will change the distance between the 3 sprockets, changing the valve timing.

I figured the heads were warped so I picked up some "60k mile" 3.0 heads from True Blue on the forum. Here's a picture that worries me just a little bit.

So how bad is the hg gonna blow when I install these 3.0 heads?

You can, but not more than once.

Correct, but often the machining needed to overcome a warping deformity of the head will exceed the specified machining limit. IMHO much cheaper to find 2 good heads rather than pay a shop to machine a head that they can't get true within decking spec and having to start over again. :bonk:
