Seriously though, Montreal is a great party city, and that is why I live there. thumb

Regardless what your favourite sin is, we can probably find it for a good price. Free is even better!

I'll be there, and I'm sure many other SHOCAGO Members will be up for it as well :D Oh, and for the record, stock GTP's aren't anything to be scared of. I've beaten plenty of them ****

If you see 1-2 stock GPs there, that will be about it. The rest will be modded from mild to wild. I hope to expect several mid/high 12 second GPs in the pack to attend as well.

Most attending will be from the Ontario/Quebec region. Its too bad we cannot convince (well not yet anyways) our Michigan contingent to show. They have several 11 second street cars and one 10 second (race only) GP. We'll see, I'll open the invite again and hope for the best. :)

Its not the stock ones that really concern me either. I'm up to at least 14 -15 stock SHOs under my belt and many more modded ones. Its the modded ones that are always the unknown and thats the part that always makes things interesting and fun.

And oh yes, I did lose to a modded SHO too, right before I started modding back in 1999. A SHO was on my list at the same time that I was looking at the GTP. They were always very alluring to me!

So far it's looking like the weekend of May 29th or June 5th. How's everyone with these dates?
Early that that is better. Trust me we want sub 10 Celcius weather (sub 50F for those south of us). My SHO runs almost half a tenth quicker in the cold.
The torque advantage is easily controled by not flooring it until the 200-300 foot mark or getting the luxury of having a well prepped track. Anytime a FWD car has 300+ ft/lbs of torque under 2500rpm, its going to be very easy to break loose the tires.

And the GTPs are even more affected by the heat then a SHO. The heat generated by a supercharger is incredible! I can run almost 1.5 seconds faster in the 1/4 mile when temps are under 60 versus when they are in the 95-100 degree F. area. My absolute worst that I have ever done was in Ennis Raceway (Ennis Texas). It was 102F mid day and the best I could do was a 14.7!! madflame Thats hot and slow!

Everyone's waiting for a date well here it is. May 29 has been selected as the date to hold our event. This date must be confirmed with the track owner but I do not forsee any problems. So spread the word. I have a feeling that there will be a large GTP contingent. I hope to see many of you there.

I'll be checking for room availability this week. I'll be checking for rooms downtown Montreal(more expensive) and on the southshore of Montreal(10 minutes from downtown and between the track and Montreal). I need to how are coming and for how long. What would be a good after track activity?

I want to make sure that everyone has a good time. That is very important to me. Let's make this something to remember.

Soopa, I hope that was a typo... May 26 is a Wednesday! Being that I work days, more importantly all weekdays, that would effectively not permit me or any other people who cannot get that day off to participate.

Are you sure about that date??

Thank God someone's paying attention thumb . The date should read May 29th, the last Saturday in May.

Hey guys! I heard of some talk about a GTP and SHO showdown in the Montreal area. I would come in a heart beat! Even with a 20 hour drive ahead of me. Anyway, I will be keeping my eyes on this topic. Are you guys still thinking of early June?

Sorry about that...all my questions were answered after I went back and read page two. I was too excited about finally being able to post! I heard about in on clubgp.com like two weeks ago. YOu guys can definately expect me there...dont know how my girl will run up there, but it will still be a blast I am sure. How well is that track prepped, if anyone knows?

No problem at all! Napierville is really strange when it comes to prepping, I'll be honest with that. There are the odd times that it sticks so bad that I've seen someone check the bottom of their shoes looking for gum or other reasons as to why they were having issues walking. Most of the time, though, its lack-luster. It doesn't really matter, though... the way that I see it, SHOs and GTP's are both FWD and both are going to roll on the same track side by side so conditions are equally bad for both brands. wink

By the way, I'mguessing that by the fantastic 12 second time and the mentioning of ClubGP, that you are a GTP kinda gal?

Either way, welcome! We're looking forward to meeting lots of good people from both sides of the fence!

That was a good idea. It increases the visibility and with the enthusiasm that this event seems to be generating, it looks like its going to be something *WAY* bigger then we first thought it would grow into.

Here I am expecting perhaps 2-5 cars from each side and a little friendly racing and what not. It exceeded that within the first week already! :D

Its been a few days and no sign of activity here... the GP people are well under way with things like research for local hotels and reservations already underway. We already have 10 confirmed attendees from the Ontario and Quebec regions alone, so come on my SHO cousins, lets not let this drop due to inactivity! :D nono :D

I hope you haven't changed your mind. Like JerryH said the GTP camp is preparing for this event. They'll be there in full force. Rooms have been booked. Don't let me down.

How many of yours are confirmed attendees, soopa?
So far none of these are confirmed. I see the GTP side is well underway. Hopefully the same will happen here. Let me be the first to put my name down on the list.
