unless you live out here in British Columbia. hehe you gotta be 19 to be legal for liquor and clubs here. i'm only 3 months from being legal for everything (except renting cars) everywhere in the world.
Not true. In Quebec 18 is the legal drinking age.
Uh, yeah that's what he was saying. Unless you live in BC, then it's 19.

slap :)

So SHO vs GTP is a driver's race? Wow... I always thought they were a lot faster...

Yeah they are right into it.

Isn't the GTP faster than the SHO in the 1/4 mile?
This is what I found for specs. For stock cars it all depends on the driver. So it could easily go either way.
SHO Specs
Acceleration, 0 to 60 mph. 6.6 seconds (most times range from 6.5-7.0)
1/4 mile elapsed time and trap speed 15.2 seconds @ 92.5 mph
Lateral acceleration, 200 ft skidpad .81g
Braking distance, 60 to 0 mph 168 ft.

GTP SPECS
Top Speed 202.8 kph / 126.0 mph
0 - 60 mph 6.8 seconds
0 - ¼ mile 15.2 seconds
Lateral Acceleration 0.78g
Heres a little GTP input from a SHO owner. My wife owns a 99 GTP, she ran it at a local GTP club event last September, bone stock 14.67 / 90.45 mph About 30 minutes later after installing a 3.4" S/C pulley ($65) and K&N 9" cone ($41), the wife then ran 14.31 / 93.99 mph.

(The white GTP is my wife)

Of the local GTP club guys that were at the track 5 were running under 14.00's with light mods. The best of them was a 13.55 / 100mph and he was still using the stock air box and street tires.

http://home.comcast.net/~pdxcgp/quarter.htm

Check out the new Motor Trend they list the 2004 SS front drive Impala as running 14.70's bone stock (same 3800 series II engine as the GTP 1997-2003) this is funny because its faster then a bone stock 94-96 SS Impala LT1 powered car. Front wheel drive has come a long ways...

FYI........ I weighed the wifes GTP the other day w/full tank of gas = 3580lbs
My advice......be prepared to get your booty wiped unless your SHO's got some NOS or a S/C. pcorn

My wifes car may kick my SHO's butt on the drag strip but not on the road course. nono

Unfortunatly our cars are not as receptive to mods as the GTP's are. But I'm not discouraged. I'll be out there giving it my all. Besides this is all in fun.

Quebec Canada... where the legal drinking age of 18 is only a suggestion... lol.

Honestly, 18 is the legal drinking age, but lets not get too far into the parting thing and detract from the real reason we're getting together, and thats to spend a nice fun day in friendly competition (no winners, no losers). with 2 of the coolest kinds of 4-door grocery getters on the market.
I was originaly pushing for us to go onto a road circuit as well, but nobody seemed to agree with the idea. Plus the road track is further north than the place we're going, so if we did do the road thing, not as many people would show up. [/QB]
Its not that a road course was a bad idea, it was the 2 main reasons that for most people, the much higher cost ($150+ dollars versus $25 for drag racing) of doing these events not available at at a convenient location (Napierville is about 30 minutes south of Montreal and about 45 minutes away from the US borders, a very convenient location).

For me my car is setup evenly for either autocross or 1/4 mile, but for this fun event I would choose to do the 1/4 mile stuff.

this should be quite fun.
I know that the GTP side is gettin ********. they want to beat us bad.
Sheesh, I'm starting to feel like the big bad wolf or something, lol... we posture a little between ourselfs all in fun, but trust me to say that a nicer group of people you will be hard pressed to find. :)

(besides, soopacharged posted on the GP board first and instigated... lol)

That's not all. Montreal is well known for their strip joints too. It's known to be the sex capital of North America.

If that's your thing check out this forum:

It seems like the GTP camp is getting ready for us. I'll keep you posted.
We get ready to play every spring and if we can have more cars in our class at a track, that just means more fun, no? So lets makle it less a "GTP against SHO" and more like GP and Taurus owners having a good time at the same track on the same day togeher. :)

I liked the suggestion soopacharged had of fastest GP and fastest SHO trophies, but again it is quite early.

So far it's looking like the weekend of May 29th or June 5th. How's everyone with these dates?
Early that that is better. Trust me we want sub 10 Celcius weather (sub 50F for those south of us). My SHO runs almost half a tenth quicker in the cold. The GTP will run faster too but I think they'll run into traction problems more so than us due to their torque advantage.
