I'm presently organizing a SHO vs GTP event at the local dragstrip(www.napiervilledragway.com) this spring. It's less than 30 minutes south of Montreal so hopefully you SHO owners from the border states will make the drive down, or should I say up. I also hope some of the SHO owners from Ontario will make the trip. Nothing has been finalized yet. It will probably take place in May or June. This will be a 1/4 mile event only. The cost is about $25CDN to race. I'd also like to plan something afterwards like head to a restaurant or something. All ideas are more than welcome. If anyone is interested just let me know here or at [email protected].

This is where it all started: http://www.montrealracing.com/forums/showthread.php?t=79486&page=1&pp=20

**** yeah! That's what I'm talking about! It's early enough in the game also that Matt and I haven't really made any club plans for next year also. Please try to keep it to May or June because the National SHO convention is mid July.

If there's anything I can do to help with this just shoot me an email.

You should see the competion on the GTP side :D doh But the main goal is for everyone to have a good time, enjoy a few laughs, etc, etc.

I'll be there, even if the car gets sold first.

Hope to see you all there!

Well, let us know for sure when the time is closer. I for one will definetely be there, and I know some others that will want to come as well.

In the meantime, if there's anything going on in the Montreal Area and you would like some more SHO presence, let me know lock

I'm always up for drag racing as long as the temperatures are cool. Early or late season I get out as much as I can. Try to schedule it to avoid the heat and numidity of the summer and the SHO's won't get beat as badly.

Spread the word people. This is going to be great. I have no experience organizing such an event so any suggestions will be greatly appreciated. I'll have to check on the price of lodging for those who wish to stay overnight.

No dates have been set so what's good for you?Let me know. How many of you want to stay overnight? Let me know. To those that have been to other track events what types of after track events worked best? Let me know. I'm just excited at the thought of a whole group of SHO's being there. I can't wait!

I was originaly pushing for us to go onto a road circuit as well, but nobody seemed to agree with the idea. Plus the road track is further north than the place we're going, so if we did do the road thing, not as many people would show up.

unless you live out here in British Columbia. hehe you gotta be 19 to be legal for liquor and clubs here. i'm only 3 months from being legal for everything (except renting cars) everywhere in the world.

Not true. In Quebec 18 is the legal drinking age.

Yeah they are right into it.

Isn't the GTP faster than the SHO in the 1/4 mile?
This is what I found for specs. For stock cars it all depends on the driver. So it could easily go either way.
SHO Specs
Acceleration, 0 to 60 mph. 6.6 seconds (most times range from 6.5-7.0)
1/4 mile elapsed time and trap speed 15.2 seconds @ 92.5 mph
Lateral acceleration, 200 ft skidpad .81g
Braking distance, 60 to 0 mph 168 ft.

GTP SPECS
Top Speed 202.8 kph / 126.0 mph
0 - 60 mph 6.8 seconds
0 - ¼ mile 15.2 seconds
Lateral Acceleration 0.78g
