Alright I’m going to cut straight to the point, what is the fastest 1/4 mile time for the latest gen SHOs? I own a ‘16 SHO and this past year I’ve started modifying it and taking it to the local drag strip. I haven’t gotten a straight forward answer from google so here I am. From what I’ve seen, the record pass is in the 10s and that seems easily beatable and that’s why I’m asking. And while I’m asking I might as well find out what the record is for the ecoboost platform as a whole, because that’ll be my next target

Jordan set it a couple of months ago and I know it was an 11.08 @ 126mph I believe was the speed.

Stripped down to a literal shell of a SHO, and relied on nitrous quite a bit.

Going from 12 seconds to 10 seconds is an entirely different beast than going from 14 to 12.

You can do it if you have deep enough pockets and easy access to replacement drivetrain parts

The record is pretty solid. Even stripped these cars are heavy.

You will need full weight reduction, and really hopped up ethanol or race fuel tune, upgraded turbos, upgraded HPFP, upgraded intercooler, full bolt ons, tq mounts, drag radials, and a wet nitrous kit.

I wish you luck in your endeavors.

I don't understand the concept of gutting one of these cars for the sake of a couple 10ths of a second. If they're just pulling the seats for a weekend and bolting them back in on sunday then that's cool but anything beyond would be crazy. That's definitely the point where you really need to step back and ask yourself why the **** you chose a Taurus in the first place. There's much cheaper and easier ways to go much faster.

I would tend to agree with this sentiment.

I held the previous power record (2014) & the speed record (in 2015 at 11.54 @ 119mph) on full weight, all season tires, and a host of mods. Which Jordan just surpassed recently.

To me, the whole point of owning one of these is due to their ability to be driven (& driven comfortably) on the street, and then enjoying its' respective duties at the track on occasion.

And when I previously replied about Jordan stripping his car down to a shell. I mean he literally did so. It was so bare and void of any semblance of an interior, that it wasn't even discernable what kind of car it was.

So I think (and I could be wrong) but my understanding of him having performed the WR that he did, was more or less for bragging rights (& the title itself).

Which, I have gone on record before, that my title was up for grabs, knowing full well I ran full weight.

So, to each their own. Everyone's cup of tea is certainly not the same.

And that was at what... 600 whp? But OP is going to get deep into the 10's EASILY.

Lol just razzing you @Foosie welcome to the club. I do encourage you to try to be the baddest bullrider you can. Feel free to share your fastest time so far. If you want to be the fastest of all ecoboosts, well there's built mustangs in the upper 9's at the least. Your biggest challenge is actually in claiming the title of fastest Taurus, which will require you to put up a 9.143 or better. But I'm going to tell you now that your car's currently way too fat and has no legs so you better be really motivated!

@ strip......

No, that run of mine was performed on the LOWER of two (now previous) track files. Which was 525awhp.

I never once ran the 617awhp file for fear of (at the time, unknown/expected) drivetrain failures.

As far as Jordan, your "deep into the 10's" comment is not accurate. He's maxed out on his current set up, and short of taking off actual doors and/or removing glass, he's maxed out on WR as well.

I was referring to OP being under the impression that the record is already in the 10's and that it ain't no thang to blow right past it

Hey you guys remember that dude that bragged a 10 second pass just by disabling awd or something ludicrous like that? Had the video to prove it and everything, just wouldn't because he didn't need to prove anything lol. Also said he was an engineer but couldn't stutter a single specific about what he'd done

I mean... just a weeee bit more nitrous might bump him into the 10’s.... lol... or it could grenade off the line... who knows.

I do remember that member/owner and after he was unable to "put up" he then changed his username and posted much much less.

Haha.

Soo it’s not just a weight limitation... it’s a drive train limitation at the moment...

This is John McLaughlin’s Camaro SS that is full weight.. drives it on the street on nice days...tipped the scales at 4500ish lbs...

This was a run I watched... he was getting a base tune in place before turning on the spray...

Point is... sometimes it’s just a limit mechanically such as a JTEKT electronic AWD system... lol

Once I started really trying with my car, which for me started once I changed tuners from LMS to AJP Turbo, I couldn't stop myself....I found myself wanting more and more out of it. I started with tuning, going from a 11 psi Meth Stage 4 X Livernois tune to an 18 psi Meth tune with Brad, it felt like my car had transformed into a monster. It just blew my mind what the difference from one tune to another did...and with no new parts! I had to go to the track. At the track I found myself fluctuating my time by as much as 3 or 4 tenths...which is huge...so then learning about little tricks that I could do like lower tire pressure, lower fuel storage, remove my spare tire and find the right rpm/launch combo.

It becomes infectious to find ways to go faster. It turns into "what should I do next"? Everything becomes one big puzzle, that is constantly expanding the more pieces you get, the more pieces you seem to need. Without realizing it you're now more competitive than you had planned/imagined and you're sitting up near the top.

There isn't a clear line anymore. Everyone has their own belief on what's acceptable? What's rational? What's too safe? What's too reckless? What's honorable or what's disgraceful? Passing Track Tech is passing Track Tech. I think a little bit of everything would be my ideal car, with the heart and legs as the focal point.

Huge difference there. A RWD car shifts it's weight onto the drive axle during acceleration and improves launch
