Ok, So I know a few people have a hitch on their Gen 1's... How do they fit with the cladding?

Reason asking is there's a Laser that's been calling my name for 2 years now, and I don't want to have to borrow the wife's car when the wind is up LOL

Could I get some pics of how they look? :thankyou: My curiosity is going pretty good...

This is what I'm looking at towing:

They fit fine. You can always get an extension if you need more clearance. I only had a class 1 for my bike rack but it fit and looked good.

My gen 2 has a class II hidden hitch, towed a lot of overweight things with it (even towed cars with my car) Fits fine, and it's strong.

Get a 2" hitch, not a 1 1/4". You might spend a bit more on the hitch, but you'll be able to find tongues/accessories much easier, and often cheaper.

The OP is concerned about appearance. A 2" or class III would be huge, heavy, if there's even one available. A class II hitch is rated to tow way more than the SHO ever should, so it's plenty.

They do not make class III hitchs for our cars.
Class I is a flat end, about 2" wide and 1/4 thick. That model has way less options to go with (like bicycle racks and etc.) Rated 2000 pounds (300 tongue)
Class II have a 1" 1/4 square end, and there's a lot of choices around here. Rated 3500 pounds (500 tongue)
Class III and IV are for trucks, have a 2" square end, and are rated for 6k to 10k pounds. (600 to 1000 tongue) Depending if it's a weight distributing or not.
Class V are for full size trucks only, 2.5" square end, rated for 14k pounds. (1500 tongue (not sure))

Normally, a Class I will just bolt up to the rear bumper support. A class II will also bolt into the chassis. I preffer a class II, IMHO, they put less stress on the (already old) chassis, even if you do not tow heavy things with it.
