I have a 91 sho and of course it has some rust spots. Most are surface rust spots. I cannot find a website with body trim parts at all. I need the pieces with the studs that hold the sho trim on the door. I'm not a body man so I don't know the technical name. Any info would be very helpful. For a 27 year old car that sat in a barn for 14 years I'm very happy with it just wanna make it pretty again. I will give my email or even phone number cause I'm not very good with forums

The metal trim pieces that hold on the plastic panels on the doors will not be easy to find. The regular taurus from the era had stainless trim bars that maybe could be adapted, but you would need a source for them as well.

I discarded the metal spears and fastened the cladding with metal screws that had a flat head, then I covered these screws (and filled the slot the metal spears fit in) with narrow body moldings that you buy in a roll from any parts store.

I could be wrong but what little I have found it's all one piece so I'm not sure what I'm gonna try yet

I also have a 1991. I have both the passenger and driver's side metal trim pieces. The passenger side one is in excellent shape. The driver side one is rusted at the back end. Please send me your e-mail address and I'll take pictures to forward to you.

[email protected] my next idea was breaking the studs off and welding new ones on

I have a bunch of the clips that slide into the metal molding strip and pop into the door holding the panel onto the door. for the strips the best option is probably very hard to find now, but look for the Gen 1 higher trim model Sable. Although it doesn't look like the same part on the car it is once you take it out of the panel and it's stainless so no rust.

Just use double sided trim tape. That stuff when you apply it correctly is like steel and won't let go for nothing! Also it is a much better barrier against letting dirt and water in behind the trim piece. And you don't have to worry about clips rusting or getting damaged during removal. That's what I use.
