Well, I just finished my front wheel bearing job. Nice to have that GRINDING sound when I do sharp corners, and the high pitched squeak after driving for a while, gone.

A few notes:
1. I bought Autozone bearings/ and hubs. (Timken 520100- it's the same for the 92, not sure about the rest.) I am trying to play it safe: The car is old and I think it's still running on a lot of OEM parts. I have OEM slicers on mine.

The studs on the new hubs are MUCH shorter than the originals. The lug nuts are only on about 3/4 of the way! The mechanic at the shop where I did the work said it is still safe, as long as half or more of the nut is on the stud. If I didn't have to shop by mail, I'd look around for a hub that comes with longer studs. Or, if I had more time, take the original studs out and put them in the new hubs.

2. The ABS sensors are garbage. It would be easier to follow the cable, unplug it, and take the whole cable and knuckle to the press. I broke mine (one accidental, the other in anger  ), and the fact that they're $80+ apiece means that I won't have ABS for a while.

3. I unplugged the abs computer for now, but I don't want to leave it like that. I've read and looked, but where exactly is the ABS fuse?? The only thing I can find is, "on the firewall". What does it look like?

4. I'll go back to the shop in a week or two and a few months after that to make sure the axle nut is torqued right. I went 200lbs. since the manual says 180-200. Good thing they have a BIG torque wrench there!! I also made liberal use of the BIG hammer to get lots of stuff loose. :D

------------------------------------------
At least I won't have to worry about wheels falling off now. A few more projects (rod bearings, abs sensors, rear struts, new driver's seat,) and my SHO will be good for another long while. (Hopefully!)

Thanks to the SHOForum, especially Rangerj and Sdpatt for tips, and Bizzy for running it. I found all the info. I needed for the job, and a lot of helpful hints.

I PERSONALLY would not feel good with the amount of stud that you have holding on your wheel, you have barely any thread engagement!! I know because I had tiresplus do a front hub on the 92 and after getting home and lookin I was so ****** off!!. I would not feel safe with that. I would be more concerned of loosing the damn wheel than with a bad bearing. I made them fix it. After arguing with the manager guy. He said it was safe...I told him to switch vehicles with me for 2 weeks having his wife and kids driving it!! Well then he decided it was unsafe
finger
You must re-use your old studs. I don't want to have to say I told you so. nono
