Ford Racing Oil Filter?

anyone try one of these?

my dealership told me it wasn't available for the SHO

but i did a little part numbers checking with royal purple and it uses the same filter as a 2011 5.0 Mustang so in turn it should work


anyone want to chime in on this?

The FL1A (listed on that page in a high performance version) is bigger than the stock Motorcraft FL400S in width and length, but has compatible threads. You can search to see people that have put one on, it's going to be tougher to get up in the small space you have to change the filter. You can get the Motorcraft filter for $4 at Wal-Mart, so I don't know why you'd need to spend $10 more every oil change...

Edit: Never mind, the FL400S is the GenI/II filter, the new SHO uses a FL500S, which appears to have a different thread pitch without a substitute (http://www.shoforum.com/showthread.php?t=103752).

fl820 is the interchange for the 500. it's bigger round, but not longer.
