I have a 1994 Taurus Sho and I am having some wierd electrical problems. I have been to the dealership and they found grounds that were loose or corroded and fix those. I have had my alt., starter, wiper switch, ignition and the module replaced, they needed to be. My problem was and still is, that my idiot lights come on and go off, my envormental contol, clock, stereo, o/d off light will shut off and then come back on. The stereo may or may not and the o/d never comes back on. When this is happening it feel like my car is going to stall out or sometimes it will rev up. I did diconnect the battery for 5 mins to reset the computer and then took it on a 30 mile drive(I know 10 would have been fine). Everything seemed fine, but now it's back to doing it again. I don't drive with the o/d off or my stereo on. Can anyone suggest something that I might try? I would really like to enjoy this car, but am having a hard time doing so.

Have you replaced the battery cables and is there a small wire running off the battery ground post?

I would just replace all the battery cables. The small ground wire is the PCM ground. You can check the wires for resistance using an ohm meter and the car not running. A better way is when running and testing for a millivolt reading from one end of each cable to the other.

Be sure to check the wire that goes from the starter to the underhood fuse box. This is what feeds the power to the fused ciruits in the car. Also has a fuse link in it.

Thank you, I will try that. I will see if I can get a friend to do tests, I don't know anything about that. Will let you know if this fixes the problem. Thank you again, Janice

You ma'am have a bad blinker assembly. Had the same exact problem w/ my 94 mtx. The hazards would come on at random, and some other wierd stuff.

As far as the o/d prob, and your stereo, I would suggest the battery cables also. Question?; do you have an after market headunit??? If so, is it installed properly, or a 'cob job' I've seen some VERY interesting wiring in my experiences with some SHO's;)

I replaced the battery cables, still have to replace the starter to fuse cable. Car is running great. No more wierd problems, but if they start up again I will keep what you said in mind. I don't know what a headunit is, but the dealership didn't say anything was strange or interesting about my wiring nor has the guy that I had looking at it before the dealership, so I would say no to that. Thank you for your help.
