Question. Do you think changing the SHO ECU would help clean up things that the SHO is doing?

That depends, what is the SHO doing (or not doing that it should be doing)? And is it the 1999 that's listed in your signature? Would you consider just swapping out the electrolytic capacitors within your existing ECU?

The ECU's are pretty solid. Unless it was pulled and has visible damage or maybe known to have been under water for a significant time, I haven't heard of them going bad.

I’m just getting fed up with all this ruff shifting issues and things. All the solenoids have been replaced as well as the torque converter. Also, when I went to get the SHO, the state inspection was 3 years expired. No telling what has happened to it.

Have you confirmed the cams have been welded? If not, your frustrations may be just starting.... Since the torque converter and solenoids have been replaced, the fluid level may be correct, but worth confirming anyway. The transmission fluid level would be the first thing to check for a rough shifting concern. If you have access to a scan tool that can monitor the transmission, check to make sure the Transmission Fluid Temperature (TFT) sensor is reporting realistic values. If the TFT sensor always reports that the transmission is cold, that will firm up the shifts. I don't recall whether or not shift solenoid pressures are available via a scan tool, but if so, making sure those are reasonable would be a good data point as well.

I dropped my SHO off at my mechanics shop this morning. The past two days, it keeps posting low on coolant and i keep topping it off. Also, I ordered a me a coolant reservoir for it. I replaced one back when I bought the car. It might be leaving again, so, I ordered a new one from one of my HUB stores at arrive today right when I was getting off. I advised the shop to see if the one, on the SHO now, was leaking anything or not and advised them at new one will be available tomorrow. They were having an issue trying to remove the current radiator this afternoon.

Again and again please answer the most important question about your car??

Have the cams been welded? If not stop 100% until they are.

No idea. No one has opened it up yet. I also need to find a welder who is able to do it IF it has not been done. As for myself, I can't do it since my right hand is messed up due to the car wreck I had back in 2001 with the first SHO that I owned, and totaled in that wreck. I will have someone remove it soon so I can make a valve cover gasket set for it.

I've had the ECU in my position for a few days now. I will have someone install it next week, I hope. I just "HOPE" it will take care of these little issues that continue to exist.

Awsome!!! Now that the new ECU is in the SHO, it runs MUCH BETTER now. Also, I did a tune-up on it with new Ford Spark Plugs, 8 new ignition coils, an ignition 2 terminal multi-purpose connector, and an Injection 2 terminal Camshaft Position Sensor. It NOT gets up and runs well. HOWEVER, there is still some type of an electrical connection issue.

Any suggestions? I have the SHO going back in Monday morning since the Condenser ended up getting a puncher in it. DANG IT!!! The joys of driving it when it's 100+ down here in South Texas. See what our weather is like?

Codes were ran today. Here are the ones that popped up:

P0340 - camshaft position sensor circuit malfunction ( I replaced this not to long ago)

P1409 - Malfunction in the EGR vacuum regulator solenoid circuit (I had a new brain installed into the SHO not too long ago)

P1414 - Secondary air injection system fault

P1518 - Intake Manifold Runner Control (IMRC) is stuck open

P1744 - Torque Converter Clutch system performance (I replaced the Torque Converter not too long ago)

My sedan feels like something just isn’t connecting very well.

Any thoughts ?

To me, this is SCREAMING grounds. All of these unrelated circuits have one thing in common - GROUNDS.

The ground wire coming off the ECU plug. Take it apart, clean the bejeezus out of this connection and its components. Put it back together with some dielectric grease and get back to us.

The 99 harness is unique, and the 99's were low production. So yes, very difficult to find one.

Go after the known trouble spots. Chances are you CAN fix this with some persistence.

That ground point on the firewall has been 75% of my issues in my experiences.

I came across part # XF1Z-12A581-EB

Now, if I can only find a place that MAKE Wire Harnesses, that would be PERFECT. However, I know that I'm only dreaming. HA HA HA
