Just wanted to run these numbers...

@ 180* im getting .9 volts.

Should I check higher in the range? Maybe 200* ?

Trying to rule out the ECT sensor...

I think the more important question is, how do you know it's 180 degrees? If the ECT is suspect, do you have another means of measuring coolant temp?

IMHO, that sensor is so cheap and so easy to replace (well ok, it's a little hard, but nowhere near as hard as a lot of stuff) that I would recommend that if you suspect it at all, just change it and be done!

IIRC, you could get an infrared thermometer and shoot it at the lower radiator hose, that would be a pretty good indicator of temperature. Or should you do it at the upper hose? that's where the thermostat is...

The ECT sender sensor is even easier to change than the ECT sensor itself is... I remember the last time I did that area I changed the t-stat, ECT, ACT, ECT sender, and the EATC air temp sensor (cos that's what came in the first time I ordered the ACT) all at the same time. I figured that was good enough. The whole shebang only took an hour from start to finish, and that included going to AAP to get a stupid 1" socket for the ECT sensor.

I do have mechanical gauges... :thumb:

I do relize that it is easy to replace (i've done dozens), I just hate spending money on replacement parts when the part that's still in the vehicle is fine...

290-350 is a big range.... do you know the exact numbers?

Hmm.. looks as if I need a new ECT sensor.

While I was running the "test" I would rev the motor (had the fan on) and the temp would drop below 180, BUT the kicker is, I got a reading of 1.0v @178-ish....

Allthough, what about the 15% part of that chart????

EDIT:
So what is holding me back from just dropping a 3.3k-3.8k resistor in there? (I run my fan manually)

What would unpluging the sensor do? I know it throws a code, but my question is, what will the EEC do in the absence of a ECT sensor? Factory fuel settings?

Well, I went ahead and just bought a new one...

Nothing changed... Guess my next item will be the Baro.
