I broke that bracket attached to the strut tower that has a rod going between it and the engine. Mine isnt stock so I need the name of the bracket to order it.
Is it an engine mount?

it is a part that has to with the strut towers not the engine. it is not an engine mount. you obviously broke an front strut bar bracket or mount that they call it. i dont know much about it but the sho gods should chime in any time now......

I'm having a hard time visualizing what you're talking about. Is this bracket attached to the wheel hub/spindle, does it bolt onto the subframe, or is it the tie rod end? Or are you talking about a strut mount? Dunno.

Oh yeah . . . how did you break it?

Any info helps us to help you.

Post a pic- you prob broke the pass side upper brkt that holds the engine dampner. Its a stock brkt but you say "mine isn't stock" so you mean you have a solid dampner in there? If so thats why you broke the brkt! Never run solid anything on a daily driver cause you will break other stuff eventually.Without re-inforcing everything else, esp motor mtg's you leave a weak link that will fail before its time.

It's bolted to the side of the strut tower. there is a rod connected to it that extends to another bracket bolted to the engine. The car was built by SHOSHOP
and I believe that it is aftermarket. I think its purpose is to assist the motor mounts.

You hit it on the nose! Solid Engine Dampner. Thanks
As for the car being a daily driver... Its not. I was at the track when I broke it. My Crown Vic is my daily car.
Where can I get a new bracket?

Just what I thought! Solid dampners. Your front motor mount must not be re-infoced or its broke to allow the motor to flex (as it should-some)enough to stress that brkt & now it finally broke. Your best bet would be to re-inforce all your motor mounts & remove the solid dampner assys.
OK- a track car...check the frt MM! Pull MM & bolt/nut the upper to the lower with 2 bolts. Then check Ebay or post in WTB for a dampner assy. OR call me as I just removed mine off the 89 as I did the MM's as decribed.

That sounds like the thing to do for the long run... However, replacing the bracket sounds easier and less expensive.

IF you just replace the brkt it WILL break again if the MM are flexing. Call me & I'll tell you just how to fix that MM. Its not hard & does not take long to fix it right! Pic of my RF MM's & frt MM & AC delete brkt

Oh I had a horrible time. I smoked my tires through first and second almost every time. I hate Falken tires! I need slicks or at least good tires. My best time was a 14.6 @ 99.7mph .351 reaction. The damn car has too much power. Not that that's possible. I know that I could hit 13.5 or better if I could hook up. I also blew the exhaust apart at the cat. I was racing some rice car, he had to see it happen. I was way out ahead of him.
Maybe I'll take the bracket to a machine shop and have them make one or two

I'll get under it and try to get some pics to send you. I cant believe that SHOSHOP wouldn't have modified the motor mounts though. It has everything done to it even a supercharger. The previous owner put around 20k into the car. It's supposed to have 450hp.
