Any particular reasons that you don't carry the "big" brands?

Not that I have any real reason not to buy one of your brands, I just have this weird thing about buying from a big name.

I've got Alpine, Kenwood, Infinity and JL gear in my car now, and I've had Pioneer before, and I currently trust all of those brands. Hesitant to buy something I don't have first-hand experience with...

I think it's because big brands don't typically have equipment that is "extreme"

You'll never see Best Buy or Good Guys selling Nakamichi or stuff like that.. really high end quality $$$$$ stuff, but not huge retailers.

That said, Rickie, what's your best price on a JVC SH-99 deck?

Hey Rickie, got a question for you. You said you carry Bel detectors. How much for a Bel 980?? What about a 950? I'm looking to upgrade to a better detector but don't think I want to pay for a Valentine One. Bel 980 came in 2nd or 3rd in the latest test by C&D, I believe. My friend has a 950 and said it's basically the same thing as the 980 minus 2 programmable features. Anyway, please let me know prices when you get a chance. You can either reply on here or e-mail me at [email protected]. Thanks!

On that note, the big brands make the better decks. Not to disrespect you, Rickie, but I'd not buy a headunit in the few of those brands that produce one.

Several of the brands I recognize and would trust as far as loudspeakers and subs go, but...

I won't buy an Aiwa/JVC/Audiovox deck/amp whatever. Those brand-names don't inspire a feeling of quality and feature-rich products in me.

And besides, I'd have thought "bigger" brands would have more "extreme" gear, since they've got the money to take the chance on it being not-good.

Oh well. Let me know if you ever start carrying any of the brands I asked about, and I'll throw some money your way.

I need new amps and stuff...

Rickie, SHOTIME, and myself have JVC decks in our cars, and for my $99 deck and $200 12 disc Changer, I am quite happy with the sound quality, and the features afforded to me.

Don't get me wrong ..... those brands are great !! But right now I'm offering what my distributor is offering to me. you say JVC isn't a big name .... I'll have to call that wrong. JVC is up there with Pioneer. As a installer, the pioneer is a PITA. They don't follow the same "color codes" like all other radio brands. I'm NOT putting them down by all means. But when you worked for a company that was installing 6-8 headunits a day the "color code" comes second nature.

I'm NOT trying to turn this into a flame war and I know everyone has there prefrences. I didn't even know what MA Audio was. I tried it like any other comsumer and fell in love. The sound in my car is crisp and clear. **** when I play Mariah Carey, it sounds like she is in the back seat (now only if she was

).

As far as my head unit .... it was all about features. Here is my headunits specs : Anti-Theft ELKAMELEON System II; Dot-Matrix Multi-Color LCD Display; Voice Recognition; With Contrast Control; Power Output. 45w X 4; CD Changer Control (J-Link); BBE II High Definition Sound; VCR Control; Advanced Sound Control Memory; Card-Type Wireless Remote Control CD SECTION: CD Text; 1-Bit DAC; Disc Name Registration; Direct Track Access (1 -12); Random/Repeat Play; Intro Scan; CHANGER CONTROL SECTION: CD Text (When connected with CH-X1 200); Disc Name Registration; Direct Disc Select (1-12); Random/Repeat Play (2 Modes); Intro, Scan (2 Modes); TUNER SECTION: HS-11 Tuner; 6 AM + 18 FM Presets; SSM (for FM); Seek; Station Name Registration; AFNS/PNC; Stereo/Mono Switch; European Switchable Tuner; DISPLAY SECTION: Switchable Dimmer; Sound Meter; GENERAL SECTION: Beep Tone Support; COMPU PLAY; Power-Off Mode Eject; Preferred Setting Mode.

List: 429.95

only the eclipse head units, but you need to by their high priced brains for it to actually work. Those work windows and locks too though.

OK, so I'll withdraw on JVC not being a "big brand"...

As for the Pioneer colorcodes, yeah, they are a royal pain.

Is MA Audio the same as "Memphis Audio" ??

A local shop around here keeps trying to push these digital Memphis Audio amps on me...

JVC and Alpine makes great decks, Apline in the wifes van is great. But I really want the new Pioneer 9000 ...9800 or something like that. I'd miss the dolphins. But I really want the 3 outs rather than having 2 the 7200 has.

Rickie- I have all C-V interior speakers, and am floored by their quality. What Vega subs do you offer (for future reference, not right away)? If I'm looking to spend about 200 on a Vega sub, whats the best you can give me? I am only looking to put in one sub, a 10" or 12" depending on the RMS power it can handle. Don't want to weigh the car down with too much heavy stuff

The downloadable one is the 9300, the one I'm looking to get. I finally got a 7200 to replace the one I had stolen out of my old SHO, I thought I was going to get what I payed but they payed REPLACEMENT and since the 7300 the value they would have given had I not bought another one was 50$$$$$ as it had no value as a discontinued model. Heck this one was still 199 at Best Buy when I hunted one down.
