Hot Rod, Surely you jest. (I hope you don't mind if I call you Surely) Think about the air flow in something like that during the firing process. The air must move to the left, left, right, left, left, right. I can imagine that it would create some turbulence.

Now you could mount that throttle body on the end of the surge tank where the crossover tube normally attaches, since the velocity stacks of the secondaries are very close to, and pointed directly at, the flat side of the surge tanks. There was a guy in Tucson that had a setup like that for his MGB.

THat pictures was taken for the turbo porch 914 (914?) thread, and drug back up when i saw it mentioned over here.

but really, its not an unreasonable position, The Mustang 5.0's used it for quite some time, along with numerous other cars.

The TB to port distance would be a max of 6 1/2" with that setup, instead of 10-22" on the stock setup.

I do however like the idea of twin TB's, one on each plenum, but IIRC the velocity stacks pointed slightly towards the stock TB, are they not.

anyways, the crossover ports are 1 13/16" ID, and theres a pair of bulges right there for the runner studs, so idk if i would bother using those for a TB mount. bettet off sticking the TBs on the other end after you hack the y pipe off

What Mustang 5.0 used anything close to that? I'm going to call your mother if you don't stop that smoking ****.

The intake horns are straight, not angled toward the TB. They ARE angled down towards the flat side of the surge tanks though. I wonder if there is a reason for this?

Besides, aren't you supposed to be doing some CAD work instead of reading this thread?

and then theres the BBK version of the intake, which just swapped stuff around some instead of just chucking the whole idea and starting fresh

center mounted TB, just that its single plenum for 8cyl instead of dual plenum for 6 cyl

also on the Center TB arrangement we have:

The Lambo Murci uses a doubled up version of the idea

the 88 Carrera used a single TB between dual plenums

Unrelated to the current discussion, but still related to the thread.

I'd like to see ITBs with velocity stacks.

But instead of just bolting the ITBs to the heads, how about attaching them in place of the plenums/tanks, and retaining the secondaries/runners? You could put some individual filters on or a big manifold style filter over the front 3 and then the rear 3.

You'd need to go with a MAP based engine management though...

Okay, you win HRK. I guess you still learn something new everyday.

Tom

I'm not sure he does. I see some properties of all of his examples that don't exist on that hacked SHO intake, and that's without being able to see inside where the real differences may be.

But what do I know? No reason to stop somebody with a hack saw and some JB weld from trying an experiment.
