hey guys, i got my car back and pulled the codes.

212 IDM input to ECA, ignition tach signal erratic

214 CID problem (my no start problem?)

543 fuel pump open/circuit shows no power. or secondary circuit failed

632 tranny control switch not cycled. (i dont think the o/d button works, no light, but o/d is on)

i had more, but the battary has been dissconected a few times. but its been driven a bit since.

this is a 93 ATX, needs 60k with timing belt and waterpump too. (not done in last 100 kkm for sure), needs valve cover gasket (can the old one de reused/cleaned up, and some gasket maker added?)

so is this a crank or cam sensor problem? im hoping cam for now, because thats much easier to change. i am planning to do timing belt/wp soon, but need to drive for a bit!

crank sensor problem probably. If it needs a 60k go ahead and get it done.

Even with a bad CID the car should be able to start eventually. The dead tach is a sure sign of a CPS problem as well. If your waterpump is leaking...fix that along with the CPS, or else you'll significantly shorten the life span of the new CPS.

With the 212 and the 214 I would look at a common problem such as bad ground to the DIS module or a loose connector to it.

Good point, since i painted my intake, i've been struggling with a bad ground to the DIS. I've already relocated the ground strap and sanded the intake where it bolts to it, and have had pretty good luck lately. But sometimes my car doesnt want to start, and i know i have codes 212 and 214 stored in my computer.

I'm assuming it's a ground issue in my case, since before i removed my intake and painted it, it never had any ignition related issues

My car had the same problem. It would crank but not start. The fuel pump didnt turn on though. Does yours? My problem turned out being in the relay box under the hood. So i had to have my fuel pump relay rewired. Its alot cheaper that way. The relay box is like $200.00

i am looking for some one to do the front 60 k in my area.
