Could warranty cover this?

Trim around right rear tail light has the chrome flaking off, just enough to really annoy me (wish I would have noticed when I bought it). Would a dealer replace that under warranty?

My small town Ford dealer doesnt have a body shop and would most likely contract this to a local body shop if they accepted it. Problem will be having to leave the car there :(

Cool thanks guys. Sounds like the dealers have been replacing them. Everyday this week there is a reason why I CANT leave early, so I will have to wait to take it in. Doesnt sound like they are hassling anybody.

Make sure they know how to replace them without having the central lateral bar forced because they did it for my car and ended up having to replace it also... PITA

Saw this late, dont know. I called and they said "the service manager has to confirm the issue". So I drove in after work a couple days ago and he did. They called today while I was at work with parts so I left work for a few minutes and got it fixed, and the dealer did it.

I am happy they did it fast and at the dealer. When my F150 cargo light gasket was leaking they sent it to a body shop 2 times at 2 days each time to fix. A body shop to replace a gasket? I assumed the worst with this but it was pretty easy!

Mine definately forced the lateral bar away from the car to replace mine... its tweaked out a little bit from it and only I notice it. Irritating.

I would take it in and ***** but they did it 5 months ago....

Glad you got it taken care of - Ford is well aware of the issue and is fixing them with verification. From what they told me when they replaced mine (as well as a bum mirror), Ford is being very picky on trim replacements. Said it's due to fraud; people breaking stuff and trying to claim warranty. Makes sense to me and it was painless. Service Manager snapped pics and a week later I was fixed.

My 2010 SHO also experienced this chrome peeling issue. I had each tail light piece replaced separately (at the dealer's behest). Months later, it's happening again to one of them.

Sadly, my front grill Ford emblem is also experiencing some peeling. The Northeast is tough on these cars. :-\

So is the southeast, my front and rear emblems are pealing.

I just noticed mine has started the typical peeling. Any chances they'd replace them with the regular black "outlined" Taurus taillights to prevent this in the future?

Just tried this and the dealer said they could not replace the SHO taillights with the SEL lights under warranty. Check it out though, some have been able to do this.

Aren't the 2012 SHO have the same tail lights as the SEL? I replaced my 2011 with SEL lights I purchased on EBAY. All 4 for less than $250. Installed it myself.
