I have a coolant leak I think. I refill my coolant resivour and after about 4-5 days my coolant light comes one, and I am low again. I never really see it leaking on the ground or anything? What are the common places it could be leaking from? (and how to fix it? )

THANKS

Most common is the radiator. Coolant sprays onto the cat and evaporates.

Also possible that you have a head gasket failure and coolant is going out the exhaust. Not very common on SHOs, but it has been reported as happening.

Got to AutoZone and pick up the cooling system pressure tester ($75 deposit) and see if you can get it to spray while under pressure.

Also the water pump leak shows at the drip port on the bottom of the lower timing belt cover. From there it drips on the front bank cat and vaporizes. Look for a leak under the crank damper.

Do you know if any of the other automotive stores do this? I don't think I have autozone in my area.

And Scott, I'm not positive on what/where the crank dampener is.

Thanks

Do you have a phone book and a telephone? Get to work...

The dampener is the lower, outboard pully on the bottom front of your engine. It is mounted directly to the end of the crankshaft. It is visible when you stick your head under the car just inside the right front wheel.

Ive had the same problem, and i just had my water pump replaced...has to be somewhere else for me, Ill have to have it pressure tested also. If in fact it is burning out the exhaust, that will be taken care of soon. The engine is being rebuilt. When you find the leak post it so i can see where you found it. If my car still does it when i get it back, id prob think radiator, or maybe pinhole in runoff? I know the sensor is in the container...

The OEM and replacement Modine radiators leak at the drivers side tank. I have a Modine replacement that has leaked there since new for the last year. Gonna have to do something someday, lifetime warranty and all. Too much orange kool-aid slowly going down the drain.

Thanks for the replies. I actually just replaced my Rad with a OEM style Visteon radiator. I'm thinking I either didn't put it back together properly or maybe water pump (fairly old). I'll Check around for the pressure tester.

Thanks

I rented a pressure tester, read all the instructions on how to use it, and tested my system.

The needle dropped slowly down in pressure. Does this indicate a leak right off the bat? Or something else. I stayed out there on my back, just to make sure I'd see something if it did leak, but I never saw a drop leak out of there. shrug

I did another pressure test today. Found no leak what-so-ever. Maybe I'm not looking in the right spot.
I guess It's not a big deal, I can just buy a bottle of antifreeze every couple of weeks.
