Does Any One Make Coil Boots For These Cars. They Make Them For All The Other Ford Coils But I Can't Find A Source For These.
I'm Getting Welded And Plug Boots Would Be In Good Order At 103k. I'm An Ase Master Tech So Tearing It Down Later Isn't All That Big Of A Deal, But Putting Boots On Other Fords Seems To Reduce Coil Failure From What We've Seen At My Shop.
Thanks,
Alan Cummins

They are a coil on plug (COP) design. They look like this new from Ford/Motorcraft:
NewMcraftCoil

And I've never heard of a coil boot???

Usually the V8 coil hard plastic shell will crack. My theory is because the mounting tabs are at the top of the coil, stress is applied to the plastic shell. From what i have see all the other Ford COPs have the mounting tabs at the bottom of the coil body shell giving better support.

What I See At My Job Is The Crown Vics And The Triton Engines That Come In With A Coil Failure Have Extremely Worn Plugs 80k Plus And I'll Bet 50% Of Them The End Of The Cop Boot Is Torn. So We Replace The Defective Coil And Put New Cop Boot With Springs On The Other 7 Cylinders. We Have Some Police Cars And If We Get Them And Replace The Boots And Plugs At 50k They Never Burn A Coil!!!! So I'm Trying To Do This The Right Way And Replace The Cop Boots And Maybe Save Myslef Alot Of Work And Money Later.
So If Anyone Knows Of An Outlet For These I'd Greatly Appreciate Any Input Here.
