I recently moved back to hot and humid Florida. Shortly after getting here, my SHO started having some sort of ignition problem, feels like an occasional miss.
The problem only happens after the car has been sitting a while (overnight). It starts up fine and then shortly starts into this erratic engine operation. The tach starts jumping around about 200-300 rpm and feels like its missing on a cylinder. After about 5 minutes of operation the problem goes away and doesn't seem to reappear.
In my effort to troubleshoot. I decided to replace my spark plug wires (long overdue - 13yrs 170K) w/Taylor 8.2mm and put new plugs in. Performance increase was impressive. However, the problem did not go away.
I spent a while doing searches, my grounds are good, less than 1 ohm battery-firewall-intake. I pulled the connectors to the DIS, coilpack, MAF, SPOUT? (4pin grey connector passenger side/intake), IAB and cleaned the contacts with electrical connector safe solvent. Wiggle test didn't reveal anything either.
My DIS and Coil pack are original. After watching the problem for the last couple of weeks. I noticed the problem is worse when I leave the car outside in the humid air instead of the garage.
I went to Autozone and they apparently can test DIS modules, but they didn't have the wells sheet for my specific DIS F147 (if I remember correctly).
Since this problem is inermittent and shortlived (less than five minutes), its been difficult to isolate.
Codes 212 - 219. Any Suggestions.
