code 21 CPS *UPDATED*

Well as if this hasn't come up, but could it possibly have died from age, and not water pump?
Getting to my car after work (4 am and 6 degrees F) and i started it, turned over 3 times and fired up. about 6 seconds later, it died as if i turned it off by key.
Tryed to start it again, and all it would do is crank. I tired this about 5 times and eventually smelled some raw gas. I stopped and got a ride home.
Went back today and it fired up almost right away, then sparatic idling, and the nice orange engine light came on. Ran KOEO and KOER, and got the nice 21 on there. Is it possible from the age and the first really cold day that it has died on me? it drives fine and all, just when it is time to idle, it doens't want to. Sorry for this repetitive question, but the water pump was replaced about 2 yrs ago from previous owner and chances are it isn't it, i don't see and any coolant on that side so i'm almost positive that isn't it.

*UPDATE*--- So, later on that day, the car starts right up and idles. Perfectly. DRive around for a while.... no check engine light. Never studdered again, hasn't stalled nothing.... but tomorrow is a new day, and we'll see then.

Ya ya, my brain started to work now slap .... code 21 ALSO states it could be the DIS/ICM and i did the "wiggle" test on that, and possibly have cured it?

When it did shut down, that was one of my thoughts, the DIS, because it does have one of the clips missing on each, and with the cold and what other factors coud have been involved that could possibly be it. I'm gonna put some dielectric greese on the connnetors/pins tomorrow, Or maybe just not touch it because it's working. IDK it's early and i have to work 6 hrs.

My crank position sensor failure started with just a little problem now and then, 2 weeks later wouldn't start at all.

As far as I know, there was never ANY waterpump leak on my car, but when I pulled it apart it was very grimy and dirty.

If it happens again, watch the tach while you crank. Might or might not move, but if it DOESN'T, then the sensor is probably bad.
