I dont disagree that it is a pain. But I would MUCH rather go thru the pain of install, than pay some half-assed mechanic do do it, while paying out the rear. Ive done 3 clutches on my SHO, entirely by myself. The last one took me less than 4 hours total. And I'm no muscle man. 6', 160 lbs. Not exactly the strongest man alive

and I do not regularly bench 220 (subframe, tranny).

220 lbs?? The tranny weighs just about 80lbs full of fluid (I drain mine first) And the subframe Id say weighs just about the same (although very akward). But still, you dont lift both at the same time... at least you dont have to??

actually the trans is alittle heavier kenny. and the subframe is alittle lighter.... maybe 80 or so.. while the trans is 9xish


well im not going to even get into doing clutches/trannies as well... you know what imean kenny....

and at 6' 140lbs. im not excatly built either.. which is why i need alittle help pullin/installing the trans... one from the top (with a rope in the clutch cable eye) and 1-2 guys on the bottom tomake things easier...
the last time i timed myseff to pull the tranny, i did it in about 2 hrs and some odd minutes... and that was to the point were the tranny is completly ready to come out, unbolted and just loose in there.... so add another 5 minutes to get it actullay out of the way... but that was a few clutches ago...
this time around.. well i have just been lazy....

got a quick question on PP bolts... should i use a lockwasher?? i cant recall if the stockers had them... i dont think they did.. but i want to make sure...

no, no lock washers.

But torque to spec in stages, and use loctite :wave:

The Loctite they speak of is a threadlocker product that is applied to the bolt threads to help prevent against them loosening up on account of vibration. It also helps prevent against rust and corrosion.

Permatex makes identical products. You can find either Loctite or Permatex threadlockers on the rack at most parts stores. Napa is particularly good with Permatex products.

A tranny adapter for a regular floor jack only cost me $38 shipped from ebay. I had to weld up a little adapter plate because my high lift aluminum floor jack's hole was just a little bit too small. For that matter one could epoxy the bolt to the washer that came with the adapter if they ran into the same problem and didn't have welding equipment. My other alternative was to spend $45 or so on a floor jack that has a large enough hole.

I always ask myself, "Is it possible I'll be in a position wishing I had spent extra on a tool insead of cursing, struggling, and getting bloody?" I can't count how many times I've been stuck, or at least struggling and wouldn't have paid $20 or more for some tool that I was too cheap to buy in the first place. Older, wiser, a little more money in my pocket I guess.
