Es Aich Oh!
Low oil pressure warning popped up so I gingerly drove the rest of the way home and started to investigate. Oil was only about a half quart low but I noticed the front of the engine was covered with a layer or oil, AC compressor, alternator… soaked. Know it’s rare for the pump itself to go out and still had plenty of oil so I looked for the oil pressure sensor (switch according to Ford). It and the plug was soaked and had a drip of oil on it.
Searched a couple vids for removal and couldn’t understand how they got to it so easily. I could barely get a finger on it and there was no chance of actually working a ratchet. Then realized, it’s easy with non PP but Performance Pack has the oil cooler completely blocking your access to it. So, it’s gotta go.
Started with draining all the oil and working with the oil filter still removed, it helps. Next I removed the heat shield on the exhaust manifold. That actually cleared up a bunch of room. Three 8mm’s and it’s free. Takes a bunch of maneuvering to actually get it out between the manifold, turbo, and fans but eventually found the right combination of twisting and pulling to squeeze it out. Then, removed the six 8mm bolts holding the oil cooler on. Got three from the bottom and three from the top. Two of which on top are by brail cause you just can’t see them. After it’s free since I had no interest in disconnecting the coolant lines to the cooler block I removed the upstream O2. After that, there is plenty of room to shove it out of the way.

Now we have access to the sensor. Got the plug off and with a short extension and universal got the 21mm deep well socket on and yanked it out. It was leaking oil into the plug, found it pooled in the connector.

Cleaned the plug up, stabbed the new one in, reassembled everything in reverse and we’re back in action. Took it for a once around and so far so good.
