Hey guys a little background I have a 2013 SHO PP with 106K miles on the clock. Battery went bad the other day (bad cell in it) and coincidentally it threw a check engine light the same day. Replaced the battery under warrenty and had the car scanned and it threw a P0016 code which said something about crank position sensor. Does anyone have any experience with this and how difficult it is to repair? The light has been coming on and off now for about 2 days.

P0016 is not a good code at all for these engines with the internal water pump. Do you hear any rattling sounds when you start up the car, if you do, does it persist? If so, you are looking at a timing chain/tensioner/water pump job at a minimum.

Or you could clear codes see if it returns :)

No it is not making any noises. Also an update to this is that it only throws the code when I use the remote to start it. If i start the car from inside with the push button it won't throw the code (so far).

If you have a code reader, clear the dtc. Then key off-remove the positive battery cable from the battery and ground it for 3-10 seconds (refered to as a hard reset to clear any potential logic lock). It takes all the module voltages to 0v and lets them wake up fresh when the cable is reinstalled. Reconnect the battery and see if that takes care of the issue. For whatever reason, logic lock issues are becoming more common on our cars. If nothing else it's a quick, easy, free attempt. If you had a dead cell just prior, the whacked out voltage may have induced a false set and in some cases, just clearing the dtc with a scan tool won't correct the logic issue in the module.
