Hey all, tried the search but didn't pick anything up.

A bud gave me a CD to check out, actually it was a CD-R, supposedly music format. Whir-click, whir-click, whir-click. Won't eject.

Any clues? Is it the CD-R or was it just time for my stock CD to gag?

Thanks in advance,
- Jeff

The only thing you can do is try to turn on and off the system by the power button on the radio and pressing stop and ejcect. If that does not work you will need to take it apart. I have the same problem and am working on a fix for it, since it is very common.

Thanks, Ryan. At least I now know it's not just me! Been trying the power/stop/eject but looks like I'll have to cut/bend up a coat hanger...

PS love that C/D pic, I remember when that issue came out!

Thanks again,
- Jeff

Jeff,

Do you know how to take the cdplayer out of the car ? once you do that all you have to do is pop the top off. putting something in there will not work ive tried it once when i was on a long trip and the cd would not come off and it would stop the radio every 10 seconds!

P.S Yes that is one of my favorite pictures too :)

Well I've not done it before, but if I understand I've got to push a tool (coat hanger wire) into both the holes on a side to unlatch. I hope there's enough service loop to pull it out.

Thanks,
- Jeff

hello, that does sound like a problem with the cd mechinism itself, it is a sony mech. either part # ----2234 or ----0026, your problem sounds like the microswitches. with the car off, hold eject while turning on the key, this should eject the disc, as for the switches there are two on the little pcb on the topside of the mech and there are also two on the main mother board. its quite easy to change them out it just takes some soldering and taking everything apart, i dont know where you can get these switches at exactly but i think radio shack may have some.

Jeff oops i was thinking you were going to put the wire in to get the cd out not take out the cd player ! im a goof  any way ya a coat hanger will work. just make sure the cdplayer is even when you are pulling it out not going to one side or another, ie one side is out and the other is still in take it out together.

Mine just did this and I cleared it by attempting to put another CD in just slightly and applied a little pressure to the CD that was stuck in there and it came out.
