CD Changer?

Anybody have a part number on the 6 disc CD Changer that came stock in the 97's? Or a part number on the magazine itself. I'm looking for a magazine, and the only place to get one is the stealership... for $86!!!!! How stupid is that?

I ended up buying 3 magazines before I finally got the correct one for my SHOwagon. (Thanks to eBay, I was actually able to re-sell them and make a few bucks.) I don't know for sure it will work with your player but it's worth a shot. The wrong ones I bought actually were the exact external dimensions but grooves on the bottom of the magazine were different.

I'll get those number to you soon. I am using my work computer to write this (I didn't drive the wagon today) and don't have access to the part right now.

Another idea is to ditch the CD player altogether and hook up one of those interface devices that allow you to run an Mp3 player through the factory stereo. That's what I did. Now I have access to thousands of songs without ever going to the back of the vehicle!

At the time that was where alot of auto makers were putting them In dash cd changers were not common.

I have two magazines. So I keep both magazines loaded with my most common cds. Takes me two second to swap em.

Eventually, I am looking to mount a changer inside the center console as the only things i keep in there now are spare air fresheners and a pen...which will easily fir in my glove box. Then again, I am mounting a sirius receiver to the folde down ashtray. Sirius makes cd's in a car obselete almost.

The magazine that works in mine is F8DF-18C833-AA. I checked eBay and recently these have sold from $30 - $40. Wow, when I got mine I paid about $10.

is the music on sirius edited and how much is your subscription if you dont mind me asking?

The answer to the first question is no. Sirius and XM aren't bound by the FCC, so it doesn't have to be. I've heard some raunchy stuff on Satellite Radios.

Sirius is far from edited. Howard can say whetever the heck he wants now that he is on sirius and he does. Also, on satelite radio, you hear more than just what the new release off of an album is. You will hear just about any song from any album, regardless of if it ws ever a "single". They also get new releases faster than the regualr radio stations.

As far as subscrioption costs, I pay nothing right now. I don't have it yet. The woman does and has me addicted to it so I must buy it. The receivers are known for getting stolen though, which is why I want to make use of my ashtray. Figure if I cut it up a little, I can mount the receiver to it and ahve it fold into the dash like the ashtray does

The part number for the changer is: F8DF-181830-BB
...my neighbor owns a sound/tint shop and he's got the changer over there taking a look at it 'cause it' doesn't play. Hope this helps.
