My 91 SHO recently developed an overheating problem. I thought the thermostat was bad and replaced it after I thought the fan was working, well it appears the fan is not kicking on at all. Is there a relay control accessible for the fan or anything else obvious to check besides the wire harness conections?

The relay(s) for the cooling fan are in the relay module located on the upper radiator support, directly below the plastic shield that originally had the emissions labels mounted to it.

The fan is normally switched on by the PCM whenever the coolant temp reaches around 210 F or whenever the AC Compressor is turned on (AC or DEFROST).

If you have a meter, you can test pins 3 & 4 (BRN/ORG) for Vbatt whenever the fan should be on. If you do have power at those pins, either the fan is bad or the wiring is open. If you don't have power there, the problem is in the relay module, the wiring/fuse links, the PCM, or the ECT sensor and will require more troubleshooting before deciding what is bad.

Good luck and let me know, I do have the schematic for the relay module and the circuit. It's not too difficult to troubleshoot and I can talk/guide you through it.

I kinda had the same problem, the fan seemed to not come on. Well it did but only when really hot. I fixed this by putting in a new temp sensor, problem fixed.
