Hey guys, i just got this 93 SHO with the 3.2L a couple weeks ago, and its giving me problems. the car will run fine for a while then will die. The amount of time it will run isnt consistant at all. Sometimes it will start right back up, other times it wont start for two hours. I did find that it is losing spark. Already replaced the constant control relay module, and ignition control module with no change. Trying to find an ignition coil but cant find one with the slot on the connector in the right place. Im tired of being left on the side of the road and desperately need help. Thanks

Good luck with it...If you just got it..93...change the fuel filter!. I've bought 5 in the past couple years and the ALL had terribly clogged fuel filters. Probably not related to your problem, but just my 2 cents..

Take a look at the water pump weep hole on the bottom of the snout (usually need a dentist's mirror). If it is leaking, it douses the crank sensor and you find yourself on the side of the road.
It is fairly hard to change the water pump, but much better than swapping the crank sensor. And you might get away from changing the crank sensor, if the water pump is leaking. I had a bad pump that soaked the sensor many times, but the sensor survived.

my experience is that once the crank sensors get shaky, they never get better, so I would just change it.

be sure to get the gap set correctly or you'll get to do it again right away... the magnet (on the bottom side of the gap on the sensor) wants to clamp itself to the shutter wheel, making the top gap too large. make certain your top gap is not too large!

Well, started changing the crank sensor and got the timing cover off to find is was coated in oil. I figure the oil would get on the sensor and make it quit reading similar to sperold said with the water pump which thankfully isnt leaking also. So im gonna figure where the oil is coming from (probably cam seals or pump seal), fix it then replace the sensor just to be safe. Ill keep you updated on if it solves the problem or not, but i believe it will

you will still need to change the crank sensor. in my experience, once they get flaky they never recover.

oil leaks in that area can be: cam seal, power steering pump input fitting seal, power steering hose leaks, power steering pump shaft seal. the order I listed them is the order of frequency in my experience.

It was engine oil so i didn't take any chances and replaced both cam seals and pump seal. I'm already there, and they are cheap enough to save my time so figured might as well

just put about 4-5 oz of acetone in per tank for 3-4 tanks. that will clean them up just fine without causing the fire drill. just don't drip it on any paint you want to keep...
